The Czech foreign minister has called on Egypt to announce the circumstances of an attack on its popular Red Sea resort town of Hurghada which killed a Czech woman and two German tourists two weeks ago.

"We insist on that we need to know what really happened on the beach," minister Lubomir Zaoralek was quoted as saying by the Czech News Agency (CTK) on Friday..

The Czech woman, who was pronounced dead on Thursday, was among the victims of an Egyptian man who fatally stabbed two Germans and wounded four other tourists at a Hurghada resort on July 14. Only life support was keeping her alive in a Cairo hospital ever since.

"We need to know whether this was a terrorist attack and what its background was," Zaoralek said.

The Czech foreign ministry has sent a note to Egypt on Wednesday "due to lacking details of the attack," CTK added.

Egypt said the motive for the attack is still unknown as investigators continue a probe.

The Czech minister said that Cairo should also consider compensating the woman's family in the Czech Republic.

"The situation is exceptional and that is why we have started negotiating with the Egyptian side because it would be strange to tell the family that they should turn to court in a civilian dispute," Zaoralek said.
